Affiliate disclosure

The Federal Trade Commission expects a material connection to a seller to be clear and close to the link. A banner at the top of every page on BlackoutSmart states that connection, and this page is the full version.

What is live today?

No affiliate program is approved. Amazon Associates is the program to apply for first. Links that go to Amazon are plain search URLs. The Associates tag setting in the site config is empty, so no tracking parameter is added.

If Amazon later approves an Associates tag and that tag is placed in the site config, BlackoutSmart may earn a commission when someone buys through the link. Approval would not change a specification, a food-safety time, or a generator rule. Commission is not a ranking. This site does not rank products, and it does not publish reviews or hands-on tests.

What is not an affiliate link?

Links to Ready.gov, FEMA’s Ready pages, the CDC, the American Red Cross, NFPA, USDA FSIS, and manufacturer specification pages are citations. They do not use the Amazon tag. Walmart, Best Buy, Goal Zero, and Anker feeds are not connected. Those names on a model page are not buy links unless a sentence says they are.

What the links do not claim

An Amazon search is not a recommendation of a specific listing, price, or review score. Prices change. This site does not copy Amazon prices, star ratings, or “customers also bought” claims. A crossed-out price on a manufacturer page is recorded as a displayed figure only. It is not called a discount.

There is no cart and no payment on this site.
